PFI Freediving Class

Blue Water Hunter is holding a freediving course on September 21-22 using the Performance Freediving International platform. PFI instructors have taught more than 10,000 people to freedive safer, longer, and deeper! Space is limited to 6 divers.

This program provides the training and knowledge to safely freedive to a depth of 60 feet or deeper. With a high emphasis on safety and comfort, we will be covering the following:

• Essential safety procedures for breath-holding

• Equalization for depth diving

• Equipment for freediving and snorkeling

• The fundamental physics and physiology of freediving: understand what happens to your body at depth

• Safety & Problem Management

• Freediving Technique Development

• Breathing and Breath-Hold Technique Development

Our instructor, Brandon Burk, is a freedive instructor based in Monterey, CA, with Odyssey Freediving. His slogan is Ethos-Education-Equipment. His personal and company ethos are rooted in ocean advocacy and sustainable spearfishing. He is in the water multiple days a week, either teaching or doing his own personal spearfishing.

The program starts with an online learning course done at your own pace, covering in detail what will be taught in class.

Saturday, September 21st

• Lecture: Meet up at Blue Water Hunter in the Santa Barbara Harbor, Lunch

• Pool: 9 AM - 5 PM at a private residence in Santa Barbara. Pre-dive techniques, stretching, static breath holds, and much more.

Sunday, September 22nd

• Boat Trip: Open water at Anacapa Island, 7 AM to 4 PM
