The Technology collection features dive computers and related electronics used to track depth, bottom time, and no-decompression limits for scuba diving, freediving, and spearfishing. This includes wrist-mounted dive computers with air integration for scuba divers, as well as freediving-specific computers that track depth and dive time for breath-hold divers working West Coast waters. These tools help divers of all experience levels dive more safely, whether logging a multi-tank scuba trip or a day of repetitive freedives while spearfishing.

    Technology FAQ

Do I need a dive computer?

For scuba, a dive computer is one of the most important safety tools you can own. It tracks your depth, bottom time, and ascent rate, and calculates your no-decompression limits in real time, making your dives safer and longer than dive tables allow. For freediving, a computer tracks depth, dive time, and surface intervals, and helps you dive safer and track your progress.

What's the difference between a freediving computer and a scuba computer?

Freediving computers sample depth much more frequently to accurately track short, deep dives, and include alarms for depth, dive time, and surface intervals. Many computers today have both scuba and freedive modes, making them a great choice if you do both.

What features should I look for?

    • Freedive and scuba modes if you do both
    • Air integration to show your tank pressure on your wrist
    • Easy-to-read display in low light and murky water
    • Rechargeable or user-replaceable battery
    • Bluetooth to download and log your dives

    Watch style, wrist, or console?

Watch-style computers can be worn every day, on land and in the water. Larger wrist computers are easier to read underwater and are always in view. Console computers attach to your regulator hose and often include a pressure gauge. Air-integrated models read your tank pressure wirelessly through a transmitter. We are happy to help you compare models in the shop.

How do I care for my dive computer?

Rinse it in fresh water after every dive, keep it out of direct sun and heat, and keep the firmware updated.

Can I use my phone or camera underwater?

Only in a housing rated for your dive depth. Action cameras are an easy way to start, and dedicated underwater housings are available for many phones and cameras.
