The Speargun Accessories collection covers the smaller parts and add-ons that keep a speargun rigged and performing well, including wishbones, shooting line, mono line, speargun mesh bags, roller heads, and gun-specific replacement parts. These are the components spearfishermen replace and upgrade most often as bands and shafts wear from regular use in kelp and rocky reef environments common along the West Coast. Built for divers who maintain and rig their own guns, this collection pairs with the Bands and Shafts & Tips collections for a complete rigging setup.

    Spearfishing Accessories FAQ

What accessories does a new speargun need?

Most divers add a reel or a float line to their speargun. Think of it as gun insurance.

Should I use a reel or a float line?

A reel is compact and works well for kelp-free areas and reef diving, particularly where the current is strong or the water is super clear.

A float line, which connects to a buoy, gives you more control over larger pelagic species and keeps you visible to boats.

Many California divers own both and choose by location.

How often should I replace my shooting line?

Replace shooting line when it shows fraying, flat spots, or nicks, usually after two seasons of regular use, or sooner after a big fish. Line is cheap compared to losing a shaft and a fish.

What is the difference between monofilament and Dyneema shooting line?

Monofilament is stiff, inexpensive, and easy to rig using crimps.

Dyneema (Spectra) is more supple and has less stretch than mono. It is more resistant to cuts and abrasion, and you can knot it to a shaft in the field rather than relying on crimps.

Both need a bungee or shock absorber to use a line release properly.

What is a wishbone, and when should I replace it?

The wishbone is the metal or Dyneema bridge that connects the two ends of a band. It is the part that rests on a loading tab, or in the notch of a slotted shaft. Dyneema wishbones pair with tabbed shafts and metal wishbones pair with notched shafts.

Replace the wishbone when it is bent, corroded, or frayed.

Will these accessories fit my brand of speargun?

Most line, rigging, and float gear is universal. The more unique pieces, like handles, muzzles, and trigger mechanisms, typically stay with their own brands.
